Storyline: East is a play of boundless vitality, a roller-coaster invention of poetic violence and excitement. Centered around Mike and Les, two razor-happy, randy yobs, we are torn between moral repellence of their machismo, and siding with their effusive lyrical charm. Berkoff masterminds a unique theatrical experience, his language sea-sawing with the elegance of Shakespearian verse combined with the downright shatteringly profane.East hones in on the lives and loves of the underclasses, the spiked social injustices which continue to divide the have and have-nots today, and consign the poorest to invisibility until they explode in rage.

Fringe Review

...blistering…a flawless show that shocks, titillates, and provides an awkward glimpse into an underclass that still exists today in Great Britain...
